What is the difference between Silicone and Saline implants?

The difference between silicone and saline implants has to do with the material inside their shell - saline implants are filled with salt water while silicone implants are filled with a semi-solid, gel form of silicone.

What are the short term risks assocaited with Saline breast implants?

Leaking, rupturing, hardening, shifting, and wrinkling.

What are the long term risks associated with Saline implants?

Silicone implants do not last forever. On average, women need to have them replaced every 10 years.

Should I choose smooth or textured Saline implants?

Smooth surface implants are easier to insert and require smaller incisions. However, it is believed textured implants offer a reduced risk of breast hardening.

Is Saline considered harmful to my general health?

Outside of the standard risks involved with any type of surgery, breast augmentation carries its own set of risks, such as capsular contracture, implant deflation, symmastia, seroma, necrosis, changes in nipple and/or breast sensation, plus several other potential risks.
